Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using HelpStash ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

HelpStash is an iOS application designed to help users pause before making impulse purchases. The App provides countdown timers, behavioral interventions (breathing exercises, alternative activities), and progress tracking.

Important: HelpStash is a tool to support self-control. We do not guarantee that use of the App will prevent all impulse purchases.

3. Eligibility

  • You must have a valid Apple ID
  • You must comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction

4. Subscription Terms

4.1 Free Tier

  • 3 spending pauses per week
  • Access to all core features (timers, interventions, basic stats)
  • No credit card required

4.2 Premium Subscription

Pricing:

  • Monthly: $1.99/month
  • Annual: $14.99/year (save 37%)

Premium Features:

  • Unlimited spending pauses per week

4.3 Free Trial

  • 1-month free trial for new subscribers
  • Full access to all Premium features during trial
  • No charge until trial ends
  • Cancel anytime before trial ends with no charge

5. Auto-Renewal & Billing

5.1 How Auto-Renewal Works

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You will be charged within 24 hours prior to the start of each renewal period.

5.2 Manage Subscription

To view, change, or cancel your subscription:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Select HelpStash
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription (if desired)

5.3 Billing

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not HelpStash. For billing questions, contact Apple Support.

6. Refunds & Cancellation

6.1 Cancellation Policy

  • Cancel anytime from iPhone Settings → Subscriptions
  • Access continues until end of current billing period
  • No partial refunds for unused time

6.2 Refund Requests

Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy. To request a refund:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID
  3. Find HelpStash purchase
  4. Select "Request a refund"

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only
  • Provide accurate information (purchase amounts, etc.)
  • Not reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the App
  • Not share your account or subscription with others
  • Comply with all applicable laws

8. Prohibited Uses

You may NOT:

  • Use the App for illegal activities
  • Attempt to bypass the 3-pauses-per-week free tier limit through technical means
  • Upload malicious code or viruses
  • Harass or harm other users (if community features added)

9. Intellectual Property

All content in the App (design, text, graphics, code) is owned by HelpStash and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may NOT:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute App content
  • Use our name, logo, or branding without permission
  • Create derivative works based on the App

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT:

  • The App will prevent all impulse purchases
  • The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • Timers will be 100% accurate (target: ±5 seconds)
  • Your financial situation will improve

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HELPSTASH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Financial losses (even if you still made impulse purchases)
  • Data loss (your data is stored locally on your device; protect it by enabling iCloud Backup in iPhone Settings)
  • Missed timers or notifications due to device/OS issues

Maximum Liability: If we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the past 12 months.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold HelpStash harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. You will be notified of significant changes via:

  • In-app alert (shown on next app launch)
  • Update to "Last Updated" date on this page

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your subscription is canceled (no refunds for unused time)
  • You must stop using the App
  • Local data remains on your device (you can delete it manually)

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India (based on developer location: Chandigarh, India), without regard to conflict of law principles.

16. Dispute Resolution

16.1 Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, contact us at support@helpstash.app to resolve the dispute informally.

16.2 Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in Chandigarh, India, rather than in court.

16.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HelpStash.
